Cross training

Taking a breather during the hike up to Constantiaberg.
11/23/09
This was a good week of training after doing pretty much nothing last week. I went to yoga on Sunday after reading about how it complements running, stretching and elongating the muscles. It was actually quite enjoyable and I need to make a point of doing it more often, particularly on rest days. It really helped relax me after Saturday’s 10k run. I also went to spinning twice which was a fantastic workout. Today I felt the benefits on my run – I felt like my legs (quads) were stronger and more powerful. I managed 6.12 per km today, a bit faster than usual. During today’s 6k run I realised that trying to maintain a running training programme over the next few months is going to be hard because of the hot weather. I set out at 7pm tonight and still found it to be stifling. Going to continue to cross train a lot and also start with some swimming training. So cross training, here I come! In case you’re interested, this is what last week looked like.
